Aaron Terence Hughes is a UK based perfumer who is completely changing the fragrance landscape and thanks to Aaron we have a bottle of Aaron Terence Hughes Legend to sample and bring you this review.
Before I start this review I’d like to say a big thank you to Aaron for including a free 50ml bottle of Legend in with my order of another fragrance titled ‘Boss Bastard’ (another incredible scent).
Legend is a fresh fragrance that is sold as a long lasting and signature fragrance.
Aaron Terence Hughes prides himself on high concentration perfumes with great longevity but Legend is a slightly reduced concentration with different packaging.
By doing this he can deliver a signature fragrance at a reduced price of £62 for 50ml instead of the usual £80 for 50ml prices listed on the website allowing Legend to be more affordable and in-line with more high-street prices rather than his usual niche offerings which are still very, very affordable for niche fragrances..
Aaron Terence Hughes Legend Scent
The notes for Legend are as follows:
Top Notes – Lemon, Grapefruit, Bergamot
Heart Notes – Tonka bean, Apple, Amber, Ambergris
Base Notes – Patchouli, Oakmoss, Dry Woods, Elemi resin
After the initial spray I instantly get that citrus blast which for a split second reminded me of Aventus.
I shake my head in disgust as citrus fragrances always smell like furniture cleaning products to me (including Aventus) but within seconds that alcohol citrus harsh scent vanishes almost immediately and I breathed a sigh of relief.
The Apple in the heart note starts to come to the front with the Tonka bean and amber just wafting through. The citrus has thankfully taken a back seat as this beautifully rich and rapidly evolving fragrance envelops my nostrils.
This fragrance smells expensive, very expensive! This amazes me considering this is a lesser concentration and a cheaper product than what Aaron Terence Hughes usually offers.
Aaron wanted this fragrance to be a straightforward classic perfume brought up to date.
No twists, no turns, just a normal fragrance that smells better than the normal commercial stuff on the market that in Aaron’s opinion ‘all smell the same’.
The fragrance is easy to wear and long lasting. On my skin it does dry down to a skin scent after around 6 hours which is within the 4-6 hour longevity that Aaron discussed the fragrance lasts on skin.
Spray it on your skin, delay smelling for 10 seconds (to avoid the aforementioned citrus hit) and then indulge in a fresh and rather beautiful scent that smells better than perfumes three times the price.
It feels high quality and is priced at an affordable cost and that’s what Aaron Terence Hughes is hoping to achieve with many of his fragrances. Accessible luxury. Smell a million dollars for a fraction of the cost.
Legend is the perfect spring / summer fragrance that would smell absolutely divine for hours.
This ones a real compliment getter and even after a shower I could still smell it faintly on my skin, how crazy is that?!
Combined with Boss Bastard (see our review for this on our sister site here) which is an autumn / winter fragrance you have a solid tag-team fragrance combo that will get you compliments all year round.
