After a rather luxurious weekend in Chester, I thought that taking a break from the finer things in life would have lasted much longer than a mere few hours. A trip with a friend through Nantwich landed us at The Boars Head pub. An eye-catching building that always stands out from the crowd as you drive towards Dagfields or Bridgemere Garden Centre.
With its extremely welcoming entrance to its beautiful wooden conservatory, The Boars Head certainly looks the part but does the food match it’s exquisite appearance?
Let the Dining Commence
Upon entering we were shown to a table in the conservatory. We sat in chairs that wouldn’t look out of place in a London fashion show. We ordered drinks and upon opening the menu there was a range of pasta, steaks, pizzas and more sumptuous foods to choose from.
Starter
With any establishment I attend no matter how posh the venue I always have to check to see if they serve nachos. Nachos are my all-time favourite nibble and any place that serves them instantly goes up in my book. Now I’m not talking about the cheap cardboard tasting chips and dip that you get at your local cinema. I’m talking handmade nachos and sauces that are a cut above the rest. The nachos were delivered and it seems as thou quality over quantity is a main feature at The Boars Head. However, when that quality has you making sounds one would only hear in the confines of a bedroom then you know just how tasty they were!
Mains
For mains, I went with a good old-fashioned Thai Green Chicken Curry and when it arrived the aroma was intense. For all I knew I had just been transported to Thailand and was right there eating their finest cuisine. The fragrance emitting from my innocent plate was fresh, enticing and delightful. The chicken was actually provided on skewers which I thought was rather unusual. But, when I tasted the chicken I realised these had been BBQ’d separately and my god did it taste good.
My mouth couldn’t handle the flavours it was experiencing and whilst I did think they were a little shy on the rice the flavour more than made up for the rice (or lack thereof).
Dessert
With my buttons on my jeans reaching breaking point I took a deep breath and went for some dessert. A chocolate brownie that really put the icing on top of a wonderful dining experience. A melt in your mouth brownie with ice cream and a raspberry on-top to complete a 3-course experience.
The Boars Head – Overall
This wasn’t just food, this was a journey of flavour. The Boars Head is right up there with some of the finest pub food I have ever tasted in my life! I highly recommend dropping by and checking out everything they have to offer. I would suggest booking in advance as even in the middle of the day on a Monday the place was rather busy.
All in all The Boars Head is a wonderful establishment that looks the part and tastes the part. For more information please head on over to their website at https://theboarsheadnantwich.co.uk
